From Will:
Welp it’s probably past time for an update. It’s just easier to make a mass post. Last Thursday the 15th I was airlifted from Alamogordo to El Paso for brain surgery. Last Thursday was my last scheduled treatment of a 6 month chemo regimen. I had been getting headaches and blacked out a couple times, lost control of my left side of my body kinda and was getting lost in my own house. I figured I had just a bad case of chemo brain. Apperntly I had a brain tumor roughly the size of a ping pong ball causing big problems in my right frontal lobe. Allmost all symptoms were insidious and just crept up, unless added up and looked at with 20/20 hindsight. I just chalked it all up to that chemo and getting older(loss of vision and cognitive ability). I was literally getting dumber by the day. My beloved wife had to put sticky notes by my clothes so I could figure out how to dresss. In under an hour. Again, I know it sounds dramatic but I just didn’t see it all together being anything but the Chemo. The surgery went quite well and the tumor was removed along with quite a bit of blood. They were able to cut my skull open scoop out the tumor and save what little brains I had to begin with. I was quite lucky TBH because I was able to regain my cognitive abilities, speech and motor functions. I’m not yet and that may take weeks of rehab and therapy but I can see it happening. I have little to no compunction about taking some time off from work and getting some R&R. A huge shout out to my daughter Hope Eaton (opens in a new tab) for dropping everything at a moment’s notice and flying out to be with me. It was great to have my Parents Dave Waterman (opens in a new tab) and Ruthie Waterman (opens in a new tab) by my side and last but most importantly not least my Wife Gabs Eaton (opens in a new tab) for rushing to my side never waivering and totally managing everything for me. All in all by the numbers, 10 days in hospital, 1 crainiotomy, 17 staples in my nugget, 1 helicopter flight, 8 fresh Krispy Kreme donuts, a 3rd wedding anniversary and an overwhelming and humbling amount of support from our friends.
